This is a good thread.. I would like to find out if I can continue my GC process if I move internationally till my PD becomes current..
I wonder what kinds of documents will be required for one to be still use the GC process..

I recently booked an appointment for visiting visa for my parents through vfs, during the process , I first entered my Dad's details and then his ds 156, then It asked if I wanted to add additional family members, then I entered my Mom's details and her ds 156 . After that it asked for my Mom's ds 157 and never showed my Dad's ds 157.
So the final list of documents it generated was :
Dad's ds 156, Mom's ds 156,157 , interview letter.
Is this correct, does my dad need ds 157 and interview letter or is 1 ds 157 and interview letter enough ?

Is it possible to a get a Schengen Visa using an Advance Parole document, which expires on July 7, 2010 and I intend to return to the U.S. on June 30, 2010.

Hi stephsh - does it have to be HTML?
Looking at your example, it looks like you are trying to display special characters as text. That can be done by just fiddling with encodings, so if you want, I can provide some additional information on that.

Receipting update is just a reference.
My applications reached NSC 6 months ago on July 9th.
I have no receipts and checks were not cashed.
As per IO's my name is not in the system.

I agree the right way for Company B was to apply for concurrent H1-B that will allow you to work part time for Company B while working full time with Company A.

My first I-140 (EB3) got denied and is pending in appeals office for more than 1-1/2 years. Since 140 was denied my 485 was also denied.
Later we filed new labor (in 2009) and 140 (EB-2) and got approval after 8 months.
My questions are:
1. Can I file 'motion to reopen' for 485s based on new 140 approval and use the previous priority date (which is 2004)?
2. If not, can I file motion to reopen 485 based on old 140 (which is pending in appeals office) and later if they are open, can we link these 485s with new 140?
Please advise.
How can you MTR for the 485 which was denied based on a denied 140? What were the grounds for denial? You might have to wait for the approval of the old 140 and then use that PD? You can port the old PD provided the older application is finally approved following the apeals. Just my 2 cents. Check with others/attorney.

Not normal, but what about I140 approval?. It is part of that and must be there. Did you apply I140 and I485 togther? If yes, it may be missing because of processing backlogs.
I did not apply together. 140 was approved in May 2006. 140 does have the Priority Date but in the 485 Receipt Notice the Priority Date field is blank. I applied for 485 in July 2007.

Foreign workers have a stake in fight to change laws.
Activists on both sides of the immigration debate tend to focus on the millions of illegal immigrants whose fate rests on whether Congress passed a law.
But foreigners here legally also have a stake in this fight.
The U.S. issues temporary worker visas, called H-1B after their official classification, to thousands of non-residents each year. Often, they hold college degrees and have technical skills.
Microsoft and other technology companies hire many workers this way. They often have to prove they can't hire skilled U.S. citizens to fill those jobs first.
Bill Gates wrote in the Washington Post several years back that there is an employment gap that H-1B visas help fill:
This issue has reached a crisis point. Computer science employment is growing by nearly 100,000 jobs annually. But at the same time studies show that there is a dramatic decline in the number of students graduating with computer science degrees.
The United States provides 65,000 temporary H-1B visas each year to make up this shortfall -- not nearly enough to fill open technical positions.
H-1B workers, who have united under grassroots groups like Immigration Voice , want more than just an increase in visas. They want the government to streamline the rules.
Currently, the workers have to apply for green cards through their employers, often a lengthy and cumbersome process. They can't switch jobs easily and sometimes have to reapply for a visa even if they move jobs within the same company. They have to leave the country every few years before they can reapply for a visa.
The workers can also apply for a spouse to come to the U.S., but their partners are not allowed to work under the H-4 status granted to them. The activists argue that those individuals represent a skilled base of workers who could contribute to the U.S. economy and help pay for household expenses.
Powerful corporations back the H-1 B workers in their demands, since it would make it easier for them to hire skilled workers. But groups like Numbers USA argue that those companies shouldn't hire non-residents at a time when many Americans are jobless.
