All,
I am starting this thread to track I-485 applications that did not receive receipt notices yet after filing in July-August
I filed on August 15th
No receipt notice yet as of Nov, 5, 2007
Anybody else in similar situation ?

What are the implications if for some wierd reason your I-485 gets denied and you dont have an H1-B to fall back upon?
Say you have an H1-B which is extended for 3 yrs( based on approved I-140) from now till 2011, in the year 2011 your I-485 file is opned and its not approved for some reason so will you get another 3 yr extension for H1-B ie till year 2014?
When you are switching employer with AC21 using H1B you can get a transfer to the new company for 3 years and get extensions from the new employer when that 3 year expires. So no worries... Enjoy

Answer: Sure, you can. In fact, that is the advised approach. Do not fall back on EAD unless absolutely necessary.

Yes, If you wish to work on EAD then you need to have it by Jan 2008. Unless the interim EAD option is bought back, I doubt if any July filer will have an EAD by January 2008. I would suggest you be prepared to extend your H-1b.

OK, Here is my situation. I came to the U.S. in August 1998 on F-1 visa stamped until Dec. 2000. I continued on my F-1 I-94 till November 2002, at which point I switched to H-1 B. I have changed three jobs prior to this one, but never have been out of status. I have all my pay stubs, income tax returns and original I-797's for the companies I worked for and am currently working. I have two Master's degrees from US university. Is it advisable to go for H-1 B visa stamping in Canada, Mexico or Mumbai, India. I have my passport valid till April 2015.

Guys,
If one IV member moves from State A to B, what would be the process of transferring membership to state chapter?
Will it merely be a deleting datbase record from one state and adding it to another state? Or would it be again filling up survey to new state chapter..?

Hello all:
I have few questions related to my travel plans to India. We will be leaving in January 2009.
We have our Advance Parole and EAD approved till 2009. I-485 is still pending . EB3 India.
My H1B visa stamp is not current or up-to-date on my passport. We have booked our flights with North-west airlines and KLM which will depart from Detroit-Amsterdam-Mumbai. I have few questions pertaining to my travel.
1) Would I still need to get a transit visa for Amsterdam, even though our flight will be halting for few may be 3-4 hours at Amsterdam- Schiphol Airport? If I do have to arrange for Amsterdam transit-visa, then where should I start as far as documentation is concerned.
2) Besides carrying my Passport, Advance parole copies with me, please advise me if I need to carry any more documentation from my end.
3) Would I need a copy of employment letter for visa purpose, or carrying my recent pay-stubs would be fine?
I would appreciate if you could please guide me with the travel related visa -requirements and documentation. Thanks!

No difference this year. This year most H1bs will go to Indian consulting companies as they will process and keep them in India. Also many US Master degree graduates will pay money to consulting companies and get H1b though there will be no new jobs. Only US companies like Intel,Google will reduce/stop hiring H1b and non H1b.
I think H1b will last more month this time than past 3 years. And lawmakers will think its not right time to increase.
I spoke to 1-2 relatives who are having consulting business and they told me they are reducing work force.. ( Not lay off but not interested to hire more and more h1b in this slow economy ) ....

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently expanded the reinstatement of premium processing for I-140 petitions. This is a subtle change, still limiting I-140 premium processing to a small group of cases for which the I-140 approval is needed in order to obtain eligibility for additional H1B time. The change was effective March 2, 2009. The expansion includes individuals who have already reached the end of their six years in H1B status, who would be eligible for additional time upon the approval of the I-140 petition. This situation is explained here for MurthyDotCom and MurthyBulletin readers. Examples of options for individuals in H1B status are also provided.

Not that this should trump any of the above answers coz there could be context behind these that I don't understand. I had asked these same questions to Prashanthi Reddy, the lawyer who volunteers here at IV.

Can one travel when AP is pending?-YES AS LONG AS THIS IS AN EMPLOYMENT BASED CASE AND YOU CAN COME BACK TO DO BIOMETRICS WHEN NECESSARY
